Former Mayor Says Government Preventing Shannon From ‘Hitting Ground Running’

A former Mayor of Clare says government policy is preventing Shannon Airport from ‘hitting the ground running’ when air travel restrictions are eased.

Ryanair say they will ground all flights to and from Shannon from this Wednesday until December 12th, with questions remaining as to whether flights will continue into the New Year.

Shannon Group CEO Mary Considine has called for ‘immediate operational funding’ from government to ensure the airport survives the fallout from COVID-19, while reiterating calls to implement all recommendations from the Aviation Taskforce’s report back in July.
