A former Mayor of Ennis has expressed disappointment at the decision by An Bord Pleanala not to allow a major retail development on the outskirts of the town.
Michael Lynch Ltd. was seeking to construct a 34-million euro retail outlet, which would also consist of offices and a public library for the town at a site on the Clare Road opposite St. Flannan’s College.
The project was rejected by Ennis Town Council last year and now the planning appeals authority has affirmed this decision, saying it would have impacted on the viability of Ennis town centre.
Former town Mayor and Independent Councillor Frankie Neylon says it’s disappointing that a promised jobs boost will now not occur.
