A former Mayor of Clare has expressed doubts that a proposed CCTV survey of an East Clare village will resolve the “serious” flooding issues in the area.
At this month’s meeting of the Killaloe Municipal District, Fianna Fáil Councillor Tony O’Brien called for works to be “carried out urgently in O’Briensbridge to prevent flooding of businesses” following reports that the storm water drain in the village is currently not fit for purpose in preventing flooding.
It’s been confirmed a CCTV survey of the existing storm network will be carried out in the coming weeks with a view to upgrading the storm water line if the Municipal District decides it’s required.
However, Killaloe Councillor O’Brien doesn’t feel this response demonstrates an understanding of the gravity of the issue in O’Briensbridge.
