A former Mayor of Clare who complained to Gardaí about the recent policing merger claims he was told to contact his local politician.
The Clare and Tipperary’s Garda divisions merged in August, with communities served by Killaloe and Scariff Garda stations falling under the East Clare Tipperary North Community Engagement Area, with Nenagh Garda Station as its headquarters.
Councillor Pat Hayes has requested a joint meeting between local representatives and the executives of the county’s two policing engagement areas to provide clarity to residents.
The Maghera Fianna Fáil Councillor says a recent experience he had when reporting an incident to Gardaí demonstrated to him that “the system isn’t fully working”.
