Former Mayor Of Clare Calls On Government To Eradicate Paternalistic Approach To Women’s Healthcare

A former Mayor of Clare is leading the call for Government to eradicate the “paternalistic” approach to women’s healthcare in Ireland.

It follows a proposal at the latest meeting of the local authority, seeking the acceleration of Sláintecare and a greater emphasis on female participation when formulating future healthcare policy.

Irish women currently have the 4th highest mortality rate for breast cancer in the EU, while by contrast the mortality rate from cancer for Irish males is the 5th lowest.
