A former Mayor of Clare is calling for a fixed deadline to be set for an agreement on transferring Shannon Heritage sites to the management of Clare County Council.
It’s after the local authority publicly announced it’s received ‘no commitment’ in a Government funding package on the matter, having requested a multi-million euro sum back in July.
The Council claims that if it took over the management of the sites without the package, it would have a ‘significant impact on services and commercial businesses in Clare’.
Sixmilebridge-based Independent Councillor PJ Ryan believes a ‘line in the sand’ needs to be drawn on the issue.
