The former Israeli president Shimon Peres has died – two weeks after suffering a major stroke.

Doctors say the 93 year-old's condition deteriorated rapidly yesterday.
Mr Peres won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 – for his role in negotiating the first Israeli-Palestinian accord – which envisioned an independent Palestinian state.
