A former Mayor of Ennis has labelled the lack of clarity about the future of local government as ‘worrying’.
Fianna Fail Councillor Peter Considine’s comments came after the manager of the county town Ger Dollard admitted to local representatives that the local authority is ‘in the dark’ about the future of local government.

Town Councils like Ennis will be no more after next year’s local elections, and they will be replaced by Municipal District Committees, but their powers and functions remain unclear less than twelve months before we go to the polls.
