Former Ennis Mayor Insists Local Housing Crisis Can’t Be Ignored At Expense Of Temporary Projects

A former Mayor of Ennis believes intervention from the Tánaiste aimed at preventing the demolition of six Council-owned properties in the county town would be welcome.

The houses on Francis Street are due to be knocked to make way for the provision of a temporary car park for four years under the Ennis 2040 plan.

Tánaiste Micheál Martin has told the Dáil, he’d ask Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien to engage with Clare County Council on the proposals.

 

Ennis-based Fine Gael Councillor, Johnny Flynn, who’s opposed to the proposal, says the local housing crisis can’t be ignored.
