A former General of the Irish Defence Forces is calling for the establishment of an Air Policing Fighter Squadron base at Shannon Airport.
It comes as the Government’s Consultative Forum on International Security is underway in Cork today with subsequent meetings to take place later this week in Galway & Dublin with a view to determining the future of the state’s foreign policy.
