Clare’s first ever female TD has criticised the Canadian Prime Minister over his comments on gender balance in Ireland.
Justin Trudeau is leaving Ireland today after a two-day state visit and yesterday urged Leo Varadkar to increase female representation in the Oireachtas.
Trudeau achieved a 50-50 balance in gender in his own government, while Varadkar has been criticised for only apportioning 20 per cent of ministerial positions to women.
