Former Clare TD Calls For Free Vote On Drink Driving Legislation

A former Clare TD wants current Dáil representatives to be given a free vote on new stricter drink driving legislation.

The proposal of Minister Shane Ross looks set to pass after Fine Gael TDs and Senators were told to stay united and to back the Bill, which will be debated next week.

A new community car scheme in rural areas is being examined in a bid to ease concerns about the impact on rural Ireland, but some local representatives aren’t convinced this can work.
