Former Clare TD Calls For “Common Sense” In Applying Drink-Driving Laws

A former Clare TD is calling for “a bit of common sense” in how Ireland’s new drink-driving laws are applied.

It comes as Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae has proposed a permit system, to allow those banned from the road for drink-driving to still be able to travel to and from work.

The idea was shot down by road safety advocates, with families of victims of accidents involving drink drivers calling it an insult.
