Former Clare Senator Backs Domestic Violence Bill Despite Concerns

A former Clare Senator, who witnessed violence in his own home in his youth, insists a bill to protect domestic violence victims needs to be pushed through, despite concerns about its implementation.

Questions have also been raised about how the Bill, which is to be discussed by TDs this week, will be enforced.

It’s after it emerged that 50 calls a day are made to the Women’s Aid helpline alone, from women experiencing domestic violence.
