A former Mayor of Clare has criticised the Arts Council for ending its practice of providing funds for a traditional music festival in his area.

Large crowds have gathered in Feakle for the annual festival of traditional music which is running until Monday, and includes workshops with master tutors, concerts, poetry sessions and childrens activities.
The Arts Council has this year denied funding for the festival for the fist time, for a number of reasons including that it didn't meet the artistic quality required.
