Former Chair Of ShannonDoc Hits Out At Group

A former Chairman of ShannonDoc has hit out at the GP co-operative, describing recent changes to GP out of hours services as unsafe for patients.

Killaloe/Ballina-based Dr Brendan Thornton insists that changes can be reversed, if there's a willingness from all doctors to participate in the service.

He's dismissed claims that a reduction in services is due to a falling number of GPs, saying that out of up to 36 members of the ShannonDoc service in Limerick City, 19 are not actively particpating.
