An Independent TD has expressed concern about the systems used to keep tabs on the US military's use of Shannon Airport.

The claims from Deputy Mick Wallace come after Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan admitted giving incorrect information to the Dáil, after being questioned about a specific US Hercules C130 plane had landed at Shannon.

He had insisted the plane did not land there at the end of September, but this week he admitted that in fact it had.

The Minister apologised to the Dáil, and said he was acting on the basis of information provided by the Shannon Airport Authority which has also apologised to him.
