Focus Ireland say access to social housing remains one of the biggest issues for people on the brink of homelessness in the Mid-West region.

A programme being run by the organisation in Cork will now be expanded to Counties Clare and Tipperary and its expected that between 40 and 45 housing units will be made available in the areas covered by the scheme.
Focus Ireland, which is aiming to prevent young people aged 18 to 26 from becoming homeless, supported more than 11,500 people under 70 projects and last year.
Regional Manager Ger Spillane says Government efforts to tackle homeslessness don't go far enough.
