Flood protection measures for homes in Kinvara could soon become a reality.
The Minister with responsibility for the OPW and Flood Relief Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran has confirmed that any application from Galway County Council to provide flood gates for properties in Kinvara Village will be favourably considered.

Through the minor works scheme, floodgates would be constructed at the front doors of properties to keep waters out during episodes of tidal flooding.
It follows discussions between Minister Moran and Galway East TD Sean Canney, who’s says it could bring relief to property owners hit by flooding.
