Flanagan Claims Halawa May Be Released On Humanitarian Grounds

The Foreign Affairs Minister says Ibrahim Halawa may be released from an Egyptian prison on humanitarian grounds.

The Dubliner’s been in jail since his arrest in 2013 at a protest – his trial was adjourned today for the 21st time.

Yesterday the Taoiseach revealed he’d written to the Egyptian President requesting the release of the 21-year-old following a medical examination by an Irish doctor.
