Five men due back in court over Ennis Graveyard Assault

Five men are due back in court today charged with an assault at an Ennis graveyard in which another man had his finger cut off.

The five who are members of the settled travelling community in the town were charged with assault causing harm to the alleged victim at a funeral in the town last Saturday.

Four were also charged with the possession of an an offensive weapon on the same date.

At a special sitting of Ennis District Court on Sunday last Judges Aeneas McCarthy heard that the alleged victim lost one finger in the machete attack , suffered serious injury to a second finger and also sustained head injuries.

there is expected to be three Claremen involved with  I. T. Tralee this Sunday when they take on Clare in the Waterford Crystal cup.

Crusheen’s Fergus Kennedy as well as Thomas Downes and  and Stephen Guilfoyle are all set to feature against their native county on Sunday.

The winner of Sunday’s clash will take on Lit in the q-final and Tralee coach John Joe Canty says his side are confident of putting in a big performance.
