Five areas in Clare will benefit from a one billion euro investment in flood relief measures.

Springfield in Clonlara, Kilkee, Bunratty, Kilrush and Killaloe have been selected as part of the initial phase of the ten-year Government plan, which has been launched by the Minister for the OPW and Flood Relief Kevin “Boxer” Moran today.

The selected areas represent only half the number in Clare that have previously been identified in a CFRAMS study as being as risk of flooding.

But Clare’s Junior Minster Pat Breen has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that he’s confident that efforts are underway to ensure all homes and businesses in the county are protected.
