First Victims Of Carrickmines To Be Laid To Rest

The first funerals for victims of the Carrickmines fire will take place in Co Wicklow today.

Willie Lynch – his partner Tara Gilbert; their children Jody and Kelsey; and Willie’s brother Jimmy will all be laid to rest following requiem mass in Bray at noon. 

Large crowds are expected to pay their final respects to the Lynch family at today’s funeral at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer in Bray at noon.

25-year-old Willie Lynch, his partner Tara Gilbert, who was 27; their two girls – Jodie aged 9 and 4-year-old Kelsey – and Willie’s brother Jimmy who was 39 – will all be buried at Springfield Cemetery following this afternoon’s requiem mass. 

Tara was four months pregnant at the time of her death.

The Parish Priest of the Travelling People Fr Derek Farrell – will be the chief celebrant – while Bishop Eamonn Walsh will represent Archbishop Diarmuid Martin. 

The funerals of Thomas and Sylvia Connors – and their children Jim, Christy and Mary will take place in Ballally, Co Dublin on Thursday – ahead of burial in Wexford on Friday.
