Clare County Council is set to receive the first chunk of a €6 million fund for tackling accident blackspots in the coming weeks.
It’s been confirmed that €2.37 million from IPB Insurance is coming to Clare as the first part of the overall three-year fund, made up of money that the councils have paid in premiums over the years.

The first stream of funding was due to arrive in Clare by the third quarter of last year, though that’s still to happen, but it is separate to central funding for roadworks.
Fianna Fáil’s Clare Colleran Molloy is welcoming clarity on the issue.
