The first President of the Midwest’s new University has been announced.
Outgoing President of the Limerick Institute of Technology, Professor Vincent Cunnane will take up the role in the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest when it’s established on October 1st.
The Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris has congratulated Professor Cunnane, saying he’ll be perfectly positioned to lead the new institution in realising the benefits that technological universities have to offer.

Minister Harris says the new technological university, which will be the third established in the State, will be a new powerhouse university, driving development and investment across the Midlands and Midwest regions.
