First Fully-Electric Aircraft To Fly In Ireland Takes Off At Shannon

The company behind the first ever fully electric aircraft to take flight in Ireland says Shannon will remain crucial to their operations for many years to came.

Vermont based Beta Technologies has officially taken its battery powered ALIA CTOL (pron C-TOL) to the skies at Shannon Airport this lunchtime.

The aircraft which has a range of 500km is on its way to a customer in Norway and was unveiled in Clare as part of a showcase with Atlantic Aviation, Future Mobility Campus Ireland and the Irish Aviation Authority.

Beta’s Chief Revenue Officer Shawn Hall has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan they’re expecting to have much more collaboration with Shannon in the coming years.
