A Clare newborn is the first child born in the MidWest in 2014.

Kyle Kevin Maxwell, son of Sixmilebridge man Trevor Maxwell and Catherine Devlin of Kilkishen, was born at the University Maternity Hospital, Llimerick at 33 minutes past 1 o’clock this morning.
The hospital’s second baby of the year arrived twelve minutes later to a mother from Sixmilebridge.
Elsewhere, Ireland’s first baby of the New Year was born at almost the stroke of midnight.
The healthy baby girl – named Emily – was delivered at the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, Dublin at about 5 seconds past midnight.
Two other babies were born at the hospital within the first six minutes of 2014.
