The Clare Fire Service spent over an hour fighting a blaze at the old Ennis National School building last night.

Smoke could be seen across the town, and fire fighters were called to the scene at around 11:30 last night.
Four units of the fire service, all from Ennis, remained there until 12:45 while one unit returned there for a brief time at around 5:00.
This morning, the fire service has said that the blaze broke out in a shed near the premises of the old school – there's no indication as to the extent of the damage at this stage.
