A Clare senator has been suspended from the Fine Gael party for 18 months following a disciplinary process.
The party found Ennistymon Senator Martin Conway had brought it into disrepute through his actions.

The suspension, which took effect in June of this year, follows his arrest in Dublin in January 2025 for public intoxication, which prompted a disciplinary process within the party.
Senator Conway has also withdrawn from the MEP replacement list for Ireland South, while Fine Gael says it will make no further comment.
