Fine Gael And Labour At Odds Over Universal Social Charge

Fine Gael and Labour appear to be at odds on the Universal Social Charge in advance of the general election.

Both parties will outline a promise to cut and eventually abolish the now hated tax in their manifestos. 

Fine Gael says the charge should be removed from all workers – but Labour wants to keep it for those earning over 100,000 euro. 

Tánaiste Joan Burton says higher earners should still pay a contribution.
