The Financial Services Ombudsman is being called on to investigate the refusal by some insurance companies to provide cover for homes in Shannon.

A number of householders have been refused any form of house insurance when applying for their annual renewal, due to a perceived flood risk.
The issue is due to be discussed at a meeting between representatives of the local authority’s Environment Section and the Office of Public Works.
Sinn Féin Councillor Mike McKee is calling for the reversal of the policy.
