Finance Minister rules out “daft” Budget spending

The Finance Minister says that there won't be any "daft spending spree" in the budget just because it's an election year. 

Michael Noonan was speaking as CSO figures for the second quarter of this year show that GDP is 6.7 per cent higher than the same time last year.

But he's warning that the government must act with a steady hand to avoid a slip back towards a crisis mode.
