Finance minister defends Honahan over treaty comments

The Finance Minister says it’s part of the Governor of the Central Bank’s mandate to weigh in on matters of great economic importance.

Michael Noonan says Patrick Honohan is free to give his opinion on the EU Treaty – without permission from the Government.

In a speech last night, Mr Honohan said a Yes vote in the forthcoming referendum is a "safer alternative".
