The Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, says he’s confident Ireland will get a deal on its bank debt.

It follows a weekend of uncertainty about a possible deal after German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, was quoted as saying, there would be no retrospective deal on Ireland’s bank debt.
Enda Kenny spoke to Angela Merkel by phone yesterday, following remarks she made on Friday about EU funding only being used to help with problems in the future.
However in a statement released after yesterday’s discussions, both leaders agreed Ireland is ‘a special case’.
