Residents in South East Clare are to lodge and appeal with An bord Pleanala over the decision to allow a controversial road to go ahead.
It follows a meeting of the council on Friday where the preferred route of the Limerick Northern Distributor Road and a link facilitating access to the University of Limerick Campus from Clare was adopted into the county development plan.
In a statement, the council says the road will create significant opportunites for employment and economic development from Shannon airport and UL and that an Environmental Impact Statement will now be carried out.
This report, together with the completed design, is expected to submitted to An bord Pleanala for independent assessment in late 2016.
Residents say they will fight continue to fight the route and Tony Ryan, who's parents Donal and Mary O'Rian will lose their home in Parteen, if the project goes ahead, says an entire community will lose out.
