North Clare is preparing to host the biggest sports event to take place in the county this weekend when over 2000 cyclists are to take part in the Sky Ride Etape Hibernia.
The 82 mile road event is taking place for the second year in a row in Clare with cyclist’s starting in Ennis on Sunday at 6-45.
It then heads east to Ruan before moving north to Ballyvaughan and around the North Clare coast taking in the Cliffs and Lahinch before finishing once again in Ennis towards the early afternoon
It is the only closed road cycle event in the country and organiser Ellie Petit says locals and tourists alike will be able to access the county despite the event:
