Clare’s Labour TD says it’s unclear what proportion of the money sought for post-flooding repairs in the county will be allocated to Clare County Council.

The local authority is continuing with efforts to assess the damage caused by recent bad weather, and local representatives are hopeful they will receive some indication of the moneys required when they hold emergency talks on Friday.
While the coalition has promised that any moneys needed will be fast-tracked, Deputy Michael McNamara has admitted the government won’t be able to ‘sign a blank cheque’ to cover the cost of repair, given the scale of the damage nationwide.
