Over 58,500 euro was donated to charities via what’s traditionally known as the poor box at Ennis Courthouse last year.

It’s the eighth highest of any court in the country, although it is far less than the 394 thousand raised in Tralee.

30,000 euro of the money here went to the Bedford Row Family Project, which supports the families of prisoners, and has an offshoot in Ennis while 5,000 euro went to St. Vincent de Paul in Ennis and Kilrush.

Among the other 32 groups which received funding are the Garda Benevolent Trust Fund, Ennis Rape Crisis Centre, the Clare 250 Cancer Centre and the now-wound-down Ennis CDP.
