Two men remain in custody in Ennis Garda Station, following raids targeting household burglaries and the sale and supply of drugs.
Garda units based across Clare, supported by the Drugs Unit and the Armed Regional Support Unit, carried out searches of several unauthorised sites in the county town this morning, under Opertion Thor.
Suspected stolen power tools, cocaine with an estimated street value of €6,000, prescription drugs with a value of €1,000 and a large sum of cash were seized.
Five men, four in their twenties and another in his thirties, were arrested – two have since been brought before the courts, one was released pending further investigation while the other two remain in custody.
Inspector David Finnerty has been speaking with Fiona Cahill – he anticipates further similar operations in the future, as Gardaí target this type of crime in the county.
