Fianna Fail Select Canidates For Election In Kilrush District

Five Fianna Fail Councillors have been selected to contest the local elections in the new Kilrush Municipal District.

Delegate’s at last night’s convention in Spanish Point selected veteran Councillor PJ Kelly from Lisseycasey, along with Pat Keane from Kilkee and Bill Chambers from Cooraclare to stand in the elections next May.

Former GAA Chairman Michael O’Neill from Ballyea, Kilrush Town Councillor Tom Prendeville, and Rita McInerney from Doonbeg were unsuccessful, though the Fianna Fail party may choose to add a candidate at a later date.

Ennistymon Councillor Richard Nagle and Michael Hillery from Spanish Point were selected without contest for the new Kilrush area which now includes North Clare, as no other candidates were nominated in that area.
