Fianna Fáíl is on course to put forward a majority of female candidates in the Ennis electoral area for the 2024 local election.

Amanda Major who ran as an Independent in 2019 & Antoinette Bashua Baker are the new faces the party have internally nominated as potential election candidates in the county town next year pending internal convention approval in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile sitting councillors Mayor of Ennis, Clare Colleran Molloy, Tom O’Callaghan & Pat Daly are expected to be complete the party’s running contingent in the town next year.

Of the 28 Councillors currently elected to the local authority, just four are women and Clare Fianna Fáíl PRO, Michael McTigue believes the tide is changing.
