This year sees a drop in the number of candidates sitting the Leaving Cert.

It’s being put down to a low birth rate back in 1994, when many of the students were born.
Just under 53 thousand 8 hundred people will begin their final school exams next week – that’s down from around 55 thousand last year.
But the good news is that there’ll be fewer people fighting it out for third level places in the autumn.
