A special church service in County Fermanagh has heard how the murder of a Clare mother and her two children has “shaken the country to its core.”
Barefield native Vanessa Whyte, and teenagers James and Sara Rutledge died in a shooting at their home Maguiresbridge last week.
Fr Raymond Donnelly said their lives were taken in an unspeakable way. “Tragedy that has pierced the hearts of their families, our parish, the wider community and our entire country”.
Hundreds lined the street, in what was an extrememly emotional morning.
Children from two local GAA clubs, that both Sara and James played at, gave the coffins a guard of honour before and after the service.
As hymns rang out over a loudspeaker, some parents wiped away tears from their children’s eyes. It was clear to see how much Vanessa, James and Sara were loved.
The three coffins are now being taken to Vanessa’s native county Clare, where there funeral will be held on Saturday.
