A feasibility study is set to be launched that will aim to secure a facility that can send Ennis on the road to becoming a bi-lingual town.
In 2021, Ennis was one of three Irish settlements to achieve ‘Irish Network Town’ status, which involves €560,000 funding to develop a language plan over a seven year period.

One of the main themes to emerge in the plan was the need for an Irish language cultural centre, which An Clár As Gaeilge is now inviting consultants to prepare a business case for.
Language planning officer Leah Talty says it would be a gamechanger.
