It’s claimed that a decision by the EU’s Energy regulator to impose stringent tariffs on Shannon LNG could jeopardise plans for hundreds of jobs in Clare and across the MidWest.

Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly has slammed the decision of the Commissioner for Energy to impose tariffs of up to 60m euro a year on the company to pay its share for the upkeep of the gas inter connector between Ireland and the UK.
The firm is planning to build a major liquefied natural gas terminal in Tarbert, bringing a major jobs boost to Clare, Kerry on Limerick, but Mr. Kelly claims this latest move could force the firm to abandon the plans.
He’s now calling for an urgent rethink.
