It comes as new figures reveal that almost 19,000 people are members of a library in Clare, with the highest membership of more than 17,800 in Ennis.

Clare is one of 23 local authority areas which have been chosen to run an open library system at one of it's branches and Councillor Christy Curtin believes these figures could take a hit as a result of the plans
