Clare’s INTO representative is warning a number of smaller schools across the county could be at risk of closure if urgent action isn’t taken in Budget 2027.
It comes as the organisation is calling on Government to provide funding for an additional 1,000 primary teachers across the country in the upcoming budget.

Separately, five Clare schools faced viability concerns over the summer due to falling pupil numbers, with one school subsequently closing.
Principal of Sixmilebridge National School Gareth Heagney says the future of smaller schools is at risk if ‘supersized’ classrooms elsewhere aren’t reduced.
