It’s feared rising interest rates will push more households in Clare into mortgage arrears.
The European Central Bank is expected to raise interests rates by a further quarter of a percent today which will be the ninth hike since last year.

It comes as Ministers Helen McEntee and Heather Humphries have announced that the Abhaile scheme, which provides free financial and legal assistance to those in mortgage arrears, will be extended for a further four years.
Louis Fay of St. Francis Credit Union Ennis says in light of soaring interest rates, the extension of the support scheme is welcome.
