The Irish Times says official correspondence from the HSE to both the Departments of Health and Public Expenditure and Reform indicates a deficit of almost €300m in October.

Last month, the Minister for Health James Reilly forecast a deficit of €150m for the year and today, head of the HSE Tony O’Brien is expected to outline the Executive’s funding position, and answer questions on top up payments for hospital managers as he appears before the Dáil’s Public Accounts Committee.
