Fears For Future Of Clare Home Help Services

It's claimed that some of Clare's most vulnerable people will suffer if the county's largest not profit agency isn't provided with sufficient funding by the HSE.

Clarecare has released it's annual report, where it states its no longer able to take on additional cases, having reached full capacity.

Clarecare provides a range of supports for the vulnerable in society, including parent and family support, adoption, counselling and addiction services, services for the elderly, and citizens information.

However, concern is being expressed in group's annual report that waiting lists for these supports are set to grow as there are no longer resources to take on additional cases.

General Manager of Clarecare Fiachra Hensey says the services they provide for older people are under particular pressure.

Meanwhile a former Mayor of Ennis says it's vital older people are given the means to stay in their homes where possible.

Clare Care delivered over 195,000 home help hours and more than 55,000 Home Care Package hours in 2015.

Councillor Pat Daly says urgent action is needed to secure the funding required to maintain these services into the future.
